About the challenge
CS4ALL is hosting BUILD 4 ALL, an online hackathon for students to compete and win prizes.
After fostering interest in computer science through our classes across the Bay Area, we’re expanding into hackathons to give students the opportunity to use their CS skills for real-life impact and win prizes at the same time.
Students of all experience levels are welcome. Participants can build any project they choose and compete for four awards.

Judging Criteria
-
Impact (30%)
Does the project address a real problem for real people? Judges will look at how clearly you identify who you’re helping, why it matters to them, and how much difference your project could make in their lives or community. -
Creativity and Originality (20%)
Is the idea fresh, or does it take a new angle on a familiar problem? Judges will reward thoughtful, inventive approaches, whatever the scale or complexity. -
Connection to Computer Science (15%)
Does the project meaningfully relate to computing, computational thinking, or CS education? Judges are asking whether CS plays a clear role in how the project helps people, not how advanced the technology is. -
Working Result and Demonstration (15%)
Does the video show the project actually doing something, whether that’s a working prototype, a live demo, a walkthrough, or a clear simulation? Judges want to see the end result, not just an idea. -
Accessibility and Inclusion (10%)
Is the project usable and welcoming to the people it’s meant for? Consider cost, language, ability, access to devices or internet, and ease of getting started. -
Presentation (10%)
Is the video clear, well organized, and within 3 minutes? Judges will look at how well you explain the problem, your solution, and its impact.
